It is late 1959 and Rhode Island private investigator Hugh Doherty’s closest friend has gone missing. He is hired by the man’s business partner and generously paid to find him. The only clue he has to work with is that his missing friend was searching for a sleazy operator who deals in hot goods and drugs. Doherty’s hunt for both men leads him into the nether world of drug dealing, prostitution and smut films. Along the way two people are murdered and Doherty’s investigation uncovers a shakedown operation that may involve some political players in the budding Kennedy-for-President campaign. Despite his early suspicions that this will be a simple missing persons case, Doherty finds himself unraveling a tale of political corruption, blackmail and murder.
